Employment Opportunities at DPB
Summary of employment benefits - Department of Human Resource Management
The Department of Planning and Budget (DPB) is a state agency under the Secretary of Finance. As such, its employees work closely with the Governor and his staff throughout the year, especially during budget development and the General Assembly sessions. DPB employees provide the legislature with timely budgetary/fiscal information that often impacts proposed legislation. They also work daily with over 100 state agencies to oversee fiscal accountability and integrity that is necessary to maintain the Commonwealth's status as a "best managed" state. In essence, DPB's employees perform an essential role in the shaping of Virginia state government.
DPB is authorized in the 2005 Virginia Acts of Assembly to hire up to 68 positions. The majority of these positions consist of managerial, analytical, and other professional positions that directly link to the department's primary operations - budget development and administration, program evaluation, and regulatory analysis. The remaining positions provide administrative, information technology, and clerical support to primary operations staff.
